Rochester, N.Y- The Rochester Red Wings were held to four hits, losing 3-1, at Frontier Field Friday evening.

Wings lefty Pat Dean faced seven batters, while Knights starter Erik Johnson faced six.

The Knights (43-31) would get on the board first in the third inning, against Red Wings (37-36) starter Pat Dean when a short popup fell near the left-field line giving Micah Johnson a stand-up double. Johnson would later score on Jason Coates RBI single to give Charlotte a 2-0 lead.

Knights starter Erik Johnson (7-5) would retire 14 of the first 15 batters before Ryan Wheeler singled and later scored on Carlos Paulino's double, his first hit as a Red Wing to bring Rochester within a run at 2-1.

The Wings put two men on thanks to a single and an error to begin the seventh but a double play and a strikeout ended the threat. Johnson would allow one run on four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.

Dean began the eighth for Rochester and walked the first man he faced before Lester Oliveros was summoned out of the Red Wings bullpen. A hit-and-run single put runners at the corners with nobody out. Oliveros would strike out three straight batters including the last looking to keep the Wings within a run.

Dean pitched 7.0+ innings and was charged with two runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Charlotte added an insurance run in the ninth and Rochester went 1-2-3 against Zach Phillips, who earned his fifth save.
