Buffalo Bisons News Release

A pair of RBI in the eighth inning from Matt Hague and Luke Scott gave the Bisons the 2-0 victory over the RailRiders on Friday night at PNC Field.

The Bisons took advantage of a struggling Scranton/WB bullpen in the eighth inning to score the only two runs of the game. After back-to-back walks from pitcher Branden Pinder, Caleb Gindl's bunt played into a force out at third to advance Ramon Santiago to scoring position. An RBI single from Matt Hague to right field scored Santiago to put the Herd on the board. Luke Scott added an RBI double to score Gindl and give the Bisons its 2-0 lead.

Two runs would end up being enough for the Herd after not being able to capitalize on a bases loaded situation in the ninth inning.

Other than Buffalo's late hits, starting pitcher Jeff Francis and relievers Ryan Tepera and Gregory Infante held Scranton/WB to four hits in the win.

Starting pitcher Jeff Francis kept the RailRiders scoreless with five strikeouts through his seven innings pitched. Francis earned his third win of the season against Scranton/WB. Tepera contributed a strikeout in the eighth inning to keep the Herd in a commanding lead. Bisons' reliever, Gregory Infante added a strikeout to earn his second save of the season.

Buffalo will play at 7:05 on Saturday and wrap-up the series against the RailRiders on Sunday for a 1:05 start.

BISONS NOTES:

Since returning to the Bisons lineup, starter Jeff Francis has only allowed one run in his last 25 innings of work.
