Bats' Offense Strong in 11-5 Win

LEHIGH VALLEY--- The Louisville Bats (37-38) took game one of a three game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-47) by the score of 11-5 on Friday night. Louisville picked up 19 hits on the night.

The IronPigs picked up four runs quickly in the first inning to get an early lead.

The Bats were able to get on the board in the fourth inning after Yorman Rodriguez hit a RBI single to make it a three run game.

In the seventh inning, Ramon Cabrera hit a homerun to cut it to a two run game before the Bats scored two more runs to tie it up after three singles. The IronPigs answered quickly in the bottom of the seventh and scored a run to take back the lead.

In the eighth inning, the Bats scored six runs after they picked up six hits and a hit-by-pitch. Louisville added another run in the ninth after Yorman Rodriguez hit a single to get his fourth RBI of the game.

In the last two games, the Bats have collected 43 hits to secure wins.

Jose De La Torre (4-3) picked up the win for Louisville.

The Bats will play game two of the three game series against Lehigh Valley on Saturday at 6:35 PM. Expected to start for Louisville is Dylan Axelrod (4-5, 4.31). On the mound for the IronPigs will be Jason Berken (4-4, 3.70).
