Albers to Begin MLB Rehab with Knights Tonight

(ROCHESTER, NY) - Chicago White Sox RHP Matt Albers, who was placed on Chicago's 15-day disabled list with a broken little finger on his right hand on April 26 (retroactive to April 20), will begin a Major League Rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights tonight as the team opens a three-game series against the Rochester Red Wings from Rochester, New York.

Before being placed on the DL, Albers, 32, went 0-0 with a 1.59 ERA in four games out of Chicago's bullpen this season (5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO). The Houston, TX native was signed as a free agent by the White Sox on February 13, 2015. He appeared in eight games for the Houston Astros in 2014 and went 0-0 with a 0.90 ERA (10.0 IP, 10 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 SO).

Originally selected in the 23rd round of the 2001 draft by the Houston Astros out of San Jacinto College in Pasadena, TX, Albers owns a 25-31 record with a 4.39 ERA in 10 seasons in the majors (368 games).

The Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark on Thursday, July 2 for a three-game, two-day series against the Gwinnett Braves (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves).
