Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI - The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and National Hockey League affiliate to the Vancouver Canucks, and American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves announce its 72-game schedule for the upcoming 2013-2014, 40th anniversary season.
The K-Wings regular season will run from October 19th-April 12th. All 22 of the member clubs in the ECHL will play 72 games (36 home and 36 away).
Kalamazoo will start the season on Saturday, October 19th at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana against division rival, Evansville IceMen.
A week later on Saturday, October 26th, the K-Wings and IceMen will face-off again, this time at Wings Stadium for Kalamazoo's home opener, during the 10th Annual Orange Ice Game. Fans are encouraged to dress in costumes and participate in Halloween festivities.
Wings Stadium will be the place to be on the weekend, as 29 of the K-Wings 36 regular season home games will be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Other game highlights include the 12th Annual New Year's Eve Bash versus the Cincinnati Cyclones. On Friday, February 14th, the K-Wings will battle the Toledo Walleye during the 14th Annual Pink Ice Game.
One of the most historic traditions in hockey will continue on Monday, March 17th, when the Orlando Solar Bears travel to Vanrick Drive for the 33rd Annual World Famous "Green Ice" Game.
Kalamazoo will play the defending Kelly Cup Champions, the Reading Royals eight times this season, including four encounters at Wings Stadium.
This year, the K-Wings will be celebrating their 40th season of professional hockey and fifth in the ECHL, which features coast-to-coast hockey with 22 teams in 15 states. Kalamazoo will play 12 of the league's 22 teams, including all 12 Eastern Conference teams.
