Grizzlies Release 2013-2014 Schedule

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies and the ECHL today released the game schedule for the 2013-2014 season.

Utah's season and home opener will come Friday, October 18 when they host the Idaho Steelheads at Maverik Center at 7:05 p.m. It marks the third-straight year and fourth time in the last six years that the Grizzlies will open against their closest regional rival in Boise based Idaho.

The Grizzlies will start the year with eight of their first 11 games at Maverik Center. 24 of their first 41 games will take place at home, with 19 of their final 31 games of the season on the road.

This year's schedule, Utah's ninth since joining the ECHL in 2005, will feature their first trip to the Eastern Conference when they travel to Orlando to take on the Solar Bears January 2, 3, 4. That series will be a rematch of the 1996 Turner Cup Finals, won 4 games to none by Utah for their second-straight IHL Championship.

Utah will face every Western Conference team at least six times, with a high of 13 meetings against Idaho, featuring eight of those contests at Maverik Center. Utah will host Las Vegas in seven of ten meetings and play more road games in Stockton than anywhere else with seven games slated for Stockton Arena.

22 of Utah's 36 home games will come on Fridays and Saturdays. January will be the Grizzlies busiest month with 15 games, including nine at home.

In addition, Utah will be home over Thanksgiving Weekend, New Year's Eve for a 6:05 p.m. start with 1:35 p.m. matinee games scheduled for Monday holidays on January 20 and February 17.

This year's schedule marks only the second time in nine seasons and the first time since the 2007-2008 season that Utah will make only one 3,000 mile regular season trip to Alaska when they will take on the Aces December 18, 20 and 21 in their final series before Christmas.

Utah will host 2013 playoff opponent Ontario November 8, 9 and 11 to start five of the total six regular season meetings with the Reign at Maverik Center.
