Aces Announce 2013-14 Schedule
June 19, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
The three-time defending Brabham Cup Champion Alaska Aces will begin their tenth season in the ECHL and their 19th season of pro hockey on Friday, October 18 at Sullivan Arena, the Aces announced on Wednesday morning. The announcement came as part of the full release of the 2013-2014 regular season schedule. The Aces will host the San Francisco Bulls to open the season, and will finish the season on Saturday, April 12 in Colorado. The new season of Aces hockey is less than four months away. Season tickets and corporate packages are currently available by calling the Aces office at 907.258.ACES. The Aces regular season schedule once again consists of 72 games - 36 home and 36 road. Alaska will play 31 of the 36 home games next season on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. This season the Aces will exclusively play teams from the Western Conference, consisting of eight different opponents. Their most frequent opponents will be the Bulls and the Las Vegas Wranglers, with 12 meetings each. The least frequent opposition for the Aces are the Stockton Thunder and Utah Grizzlies. The Aces will face-off against those two clubs six times apiece. Alaska will face Stockton for the first time during a three-game series at Sullivan Arena on February 7-9. It will be the first meeting between the teams since the Thunder eliminated the Aces in Game Six of the 2013 Western Conference Semifinals in Anchorage.
The season schedule features a number of highlights. For the seventh straight season, the Aces will play a game at Sullivan Arena on New Year's Eve, as they host the Ontario Reign. That game is part of a season-long, eight-game home stand for the Aces in late December through early January. The longest road trip in the upcoming season is also eight games, and occurs twice. The Aces have one eight-game trip in November and December, and another in March. Alaska will close the year with 11 of their final 14 games on the road. Their regular season home finale will come against San Francisco on Sunday, April 6 in the close of a three-game weekend with the Bulls. That weekend is the second to last of the ECHL's regular season. Fans at the Sullivan Arena will be treated to a balanced variety of visiting teams, as no opponent plays in Alaska more than six times this season.
All Aces home games will be played at Sullivan Arena. Sunday games will begin at 3:05pm, and all other games will begin at 7:15pm. The entire Aces 2013-2014 schedule is listed below:
