Eagles Announce 2013-14 Season
June 19, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, along with the rest of the ECHL's clubs, announced today the 2013-14 regular season schedule.
The ECHL features a 72-game regular season, with each team playing 36 games at home and on the road. The schedule is unbalanced between the league's 22 teams, with most contests featuring teams from within the same conference; however, this season's schedule will feature four inter-conference games for the Eagles. Colorado will venture to the state of Florida for the first time in franchise history. They will travel to Ft. Myers, Florida for a pair of games against the Florida Everblades (who captured the ECHL's Kelly Cup in 2012) and make their first ever appearance at the Amway Center in Orlando for two games against the Orlando Solar Bears. The rest of the Eagles 68 games will be played within the Western Conference.
The Eagles will play the Utah Grizzlies and Las Vegas Wranglers the most: a total of 11 times each. Included in the 11 games against the Wranglers will be a midnight tilt between the two clubs at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on February 16th. Colorado will face-off with last season's playoff rival, Idaho, nine times. They will also take on Alaska and San Francisco nine times a piece and Ontario on eight different occasions. The rest of their schedule includes four games against Bakersfield and seven meetings with the defending Western Conference Champion, Stockton Thunder. The Eagles will not face any opponent more than four times in any month. November will feature the team's greatest number of home games, with nine contests at the Budweiser Events Center. The team's longest road trip comes in January with seven straight games away from the BEC.
As usual, the majority of Colorado's home games - 35 of 36 - will be played on Fridays (15), Saturdays (11) or Wednesdays (8). The Eagles will hold their lone Sunday game on January 23rd at a matinee time of 2:05 p.m. All other home games will feature the usual 7:05 p.m. start time.
Details about a potential preseason game at the Budweiser Events Center will also be announced as the season gets closer.
