Wilton Lopez Makes MLB Debut With Astros

Fort Wayne, Ind. - Former Fort Wayne RHP Wilton Lopez made his major-league debut on August 28th with the Houston Astros. Lopez, who played in the Summit City in 2007, became the franchise's 84th alum to make it to the major leagues. Lopez had a rough debut, allowing six runs on eight hits in four innings. He opened the season with Houston's Double-A affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks, where he went 4-5 with a 4.73 ERA.

With Fort Wayne in 2007, he went 1-0 with a 3.30 ERA before being promoted to Advanced-A Lake Elsinore. Lopez spent last season at three levels of the Padres' organization. He was designated for assignment by the Padres on April 5th , 2009, and claimed off waivers by the Astros.

Lopez became the first member of the 2007 Fort Wayne roster to hit the major leagues.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps finish the regular-season home slate tonight and tomorrow against the Great Lakes Loons (Class-A Los Angeles Dodgers). Both games begin at 7:05pm at Parkview Field.
