Frederick Keys News Release

Wilmington, Del. -The Wilmington Blue Rocks used one big swing and excellent pitching from Jakob Junis, Robinson Yambati and Ashton Goudeau to earn a 5-1 win over the Frederick Keys on Friday night at Frawley Stadium. It was the club's fifth loss in six games on the Riverfront this season and dropped the Keys four games out of first in the CL North playoff race. It is the farthest the orange and black have been out of first place this year.

Luis Gonzalez successfully worked around traffic in the second and third innings, but the Blue Rocks cracked the scoreboard in the fourth. Frank Schwindel earned a one-out walk and advanced to third after back-to-back singles by Jack Lopez and Dominique Taylor. That set the table for Santiago Nessy, who hit a bases clearing double off the leftfield wall to make it 3-0 Wilmington.

Despite receiving the loss, the three runs would be the only markers Gonzalez (3-5) allowed, as the southpaw worked a season-high 5.2 innings giving up three runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out three.

Gonzalez's counterpart, Junis (3-4), turned in his second quality start against the Keys this year working six innings of one-run baseball. He scattered seven hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter. Around the strike zone all game, 52 of Junis' 77 pitches went for strikes.

Frederick's lone run off Junis came in the top of the sixth. Adrian Marin opened the inning with a leadoff double, which just stayed fair down the third baseline. Drew Dosch then lined a ball off the leg of Jakob Junis to advance Marin to third, while Tucker Nathans added an RBI single to center. Nathans and Marin would both end the game 2-for-4.

In the seventh, Wilmington would get the runs back, scoring twice off Jimmy Yacabonis. Logan Moon reached on a one-out infield single, stole second and got to third on a fielder's choice. Robert Pehl followed with an RBI single, with base hits by Mauricio Ramos and Schwindel made it 5-1.

In relief, Yambati and Goudeau combined on three shutout innings of two-hit baseball to end the game.

The Keys and the Blue Rocks continue their series on Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. Orioles right-hander and former Key, Kevin Gausman (0-0, --) will make a Major League rehab start against Blue Rocks lefty Cody Reed (4-3, 1.45). First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. and the broadcast can be heard on 1450 AM The Source and frederickkeys.com. The Keys return to Nymeo Field on Monday, June 8, when the Myrtle Beach Pelicans come to town. For ticket information, fans can contact the Keys at 301-815-9939 or visit frederickkeys.com.
