LYNCHBURG, Va. (June 5, 2015) - The Lynchburg Hillcats surged past the Dash with a five-run sixth inning in their 7-2 victory in Friday's doubleheader opener at City Stadium.

Dash starter Matt Heidenreich (7-1) worked into the sixth inning in his quest to become the second eight-game winner in the Minor Leagues. However, he did not retire a batter in the frame. A triple and a hit by pitch sparked the tie-breaking rally for Lynchburg, who grabbed the lead for good on a Paul Hendrix RBI double.

Later in the frame, Both Alex Monsalve and James Roberts delivered two-run doubles to cap the scoring, and all five runs were charged to Heidenreich. The righty suffered his first loss, and he permitted a season-high seven runs on 10 hits.

Lynchburg (24-29) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first thanks to solo bombs by leadoff man Luigi Rodriguez and cleanup hitter Nellie Rodriguez. From the second through the fifth, though, Heidenreich did not allow a run.

This gave the Dash (22-30) a chance to rally back, and they plated a run in the second on a T.J. Williams sacrifice fly to pull within one. Three innings later, an error allowed Chris Jacobs to score the tying run.

However, Winston-Salem stranded 11 runners, eight of which were in scoring position when the inning ended. The Dash were 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Hoping to split the double dip, Winston-Salem will send southpaw Brian Clark (1-1, 2.95 ERA) to the bump for the doubleheader finale. Lynchburg counters with right-hander Antonio Romero (0-0, 4.76 ERA), also primarily a reliever. First pitch is set for approximately 8:20 p.m., and coverage continues on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn App (search "Dash Baseball").

The Dash return home on Monday for a four-game series with the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals). For tickets, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
