MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Mudcats (25-27) split Friday's doubleheader in Myrtle Beach with the Pelicans (32-20) after taking game one 5-3 and losing game two 5-2. Jacob Schrader hit a three run double and Seth Webster pitched a complete game gem in the game one victory, but the Mudcats lost a one run lead in the sixth while losing game two.

Webster (W, 2-1, 1.71 ERA) allowed three runs and five hits over seven complete in the game one victory. He also struck out seven and forced nine groundouts against three flyouts. His complete game effort was the third this season for Carolina. It was also his second straight win against the Pelicans.

Schrader cleared the bases with a three run double off Myrtle Beach starter Duane Underwood Jr. in the sixth of game one. He was 1-for-3 in the game with three RBI and his bases loaded double in the sixth knocked Underwood (L, 5-2, 2.15 ERA) out of the game.

Underwood allowed four runs on seven hits over five and 1/3 innings pitched. He also gave up a home run to Carlos Franco in the second. It was Franco's fourth home run of the season.

Connor Lien finished game one 2-for-3 with a run and stretched his hitting streak to 11 consecutive games. The streak is the longest for the Mudcats this season and the longest for Lien in his career. Johan Camargo was 2-for-3 and drove in one for the Mudcats in game one.

Andrew Waszak started game two for Carolina and held the Pelicans to just one run over five until giving up two runs in the sixth. Waszak (L, 2-4, 2.96 ERA) pitched into the sixth and left after allowing two runners on base and with the Mudcats leading 2-1. Matt Marksberry followed Waszak and allowed a game tying single to the first batter he faced before eventually loading the bases. He continued the inning with consecutive bases loaded strikeouts, but then gave up a two-out, three run double to Carlos Penalver.

Marksberry allowed two runs and two hits in the sixth. He also struck out two while suffering his first blown save of the season. Waszak pitched to two batters in the sixth and took the loss.

The Mudcats were 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the game two loss. They also stranded four men on base in the game, including Dustin Peterson at third in the top of the sixth. He led off the inning with a double.

Michael Heesh earned the game two win for the Pelicans after relieving starter Paul Blackburn in the sixth. Blackburn allowed seven hits and two runs over five and 1/3 innings pitched. Heesh (W, 3-0, 1.93 ERA) got the Pelicans out of the sixth without allowing a run and kept the Mudcats scoreless in the seventh as well.
