Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Williamsport, PA- The Aberdeen IronBirds fell behind 1-0 on a Jiandido Tromp home run in the fourth inning, and were never able to mount an offensive charge, falling 2-0 to the Williamsport Crosscutters.

Aberdeen starter Stephen Tarpley allowed a leadoff base runner in each of the first three innings before Tromp led off the fourth inning with his second home run in as many nights, giving the Crosscutters a 1-0 lead.

Williamsport scored another run in the bottom of the eighth. Wilson Garcia hit a double to the wall in left center, and scored on a Derek Campbell single and an error charged to Jamill Moquete. The Crosscutters went on to win by that 2-0 score.

Offensively, it was another tough night for the IronBirds as they had just four hits in the game. Jay Gonzalez had two singles in his first two at-bats, Alex Murphy hit a two out single in the fourth to extend his hitting streak to six games, and Moquete hit a two out single in the eighth.

The game was stopped for 42 minutes due to rain in the middle of the fifth inning. The game was played in one hour, 56 minutes, marking the shortest nine inning game in franchise history. The previous record was one hour, 57 minutes, set on July 6, 2005 at Hudson Valley.

The IronBirds will look to avoid a sweep tomorrow night when RHP Matthew Grimes gets the start. He will be opposed by Williamsport's LHP Brandon Leibrandt. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
