
Wichita Signs Forward Borodaenko to Amateur Tryout

WICHITA, Kan. (Feb. 18) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of forward Nikita Borodaenko (BORO-dank-oo) to an Amateur Tryout Agreement
Borodaenko, 23, finished his senior campaign at the University of Dubuque (NCAA D-III). In 25 games, the Dmitrov, Russia native lead the team with a career-high 35 points (1g, 18a) and finished his two-year Spartan career with 57 points (25g, 32a). He also played 20 games across two seasons at Merrimack College.
Prior to his collegiate career, the 5-foot-11, 187-pound forward spent time in the United States Hockey League with Dubuque, recording 18 goals and 27 points.
Borodaenko began his junior career with MHK Spartak in Russia, skating in 106 games and registering 57 points (29g, 28a).
Wichita begins a 12-game road trip tonight with its only contest of the season against Iowa. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
