
Wichita defeats the Explorers 16-3

Wichita, KS - Two big innings resulted in Wichita defeating the Explorers 16-3 Wednesday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium to even the series at a game apiece.
Wichita broke open a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when they sent ten batters to the plate scoring seven runs to take an 8-0 lead. A grand slam home run by the Wingnuts Dustan Mohr was the big blow in the inning.
The Explorers cut the lead to 8-3 in the fifth when Boomer Berry connected on a three-run home run. However, Wichita increased their lead to 10-3 with two unearned runs in the fifth. The other big inning for Wichita came in the eighth when 11 batters went to the plate and the Wingnuts broke the game wide open scoring six runs to win the contest 16-3.
Brett Mieras led the Explorers with three hits, half of the X's hits in the contest.
The final game of the three-game series will be Thursday at Wichita starting at 7:05.
