WhiteWings Trade Fidel Hernandez to McAllen for Roberto Rodriguez

The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings have announced the trade of infielder/outfielder Fidel Hernandez to the McAllen Thunder for infielder Roberto Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, 26, was the Thunder's starting shortstop, leading the team in stolen bases (16). A singles hitter who played for two years for the Cincinnati Reds affiliate in the Dominican Summer League in 2006 and 2007, Rodriguez was hitting .275 with no home runs and 11 runs batted in 55 games as McAllen's starting shortstop. He will return to second base with the WhiteWings and is slated to bat ninth in tonight's lineup at McAllen.

Hernandez, 26, came to Rio Grande Valley this season after spending seven years in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, including two stints for the Reading Phillies (AA). Primarily the WhiteWings' starting second baseman, Hernandez had most recently been playing the corner outfield positions for the first time in his professional career recently.

For the season Hernandez was batting .295 with two home runs and 44 RBIs, the seventh-highest total in the North American Baseball League. --1508702382-424914600-1344465659=:17058
