Cats Add Infielder to Roster

August 8, 2012 - North American League (NAmL)
Fort Worth Cats News Release

FORT WORTH - In order to solve the Cats' recent issue of lack of timely hitting with just 25 games left in the regular season, the Cats have addressed their weakness with the announced signing of infielder Antoin Gray.

Gray played 31 games for the McAllen Thunder this season and batted .265 with 29 RBIs and five home runs in just 117 at bats. The 31-year old veteran was released following his two-for-four performance Tuesday night in McAllen's win over Rio Grande Valley.

Gray is a right-handed hitter that was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2003 out of Southern University. His senior year at Southern University he was voted the Southwest Athletic Conference All-Star at third base.

The Mississippi native will hope to make an impact immediately as he will be part of the starting lineup at LaGrave Field as the Fort Worth Cats and Edinburg Roadrunners wrap up their series finale at 7:05 Wednesday night. Manager Curtis Wilkerson has Gray penciled in to play second base in his Cats' debut.

Tickets for the series finale between Edinburg and Fort Worth can be purchased at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
