San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts and Prairie Dogs battled for four hours and 29 minutes and through 14 innings before Abilene came away with a 6-4 victory Tuesday night at Foster Field.

The game was the longest time-wise for both clubs, and tied for the most innings played. San Angelo and Abilene also went to 14 innings on June 20 at Walt Driggers Field.

Tied at four in the 14th, Abilene third baseman Wilson Batista scored on an RBI single by left fielder Joe Weik. After Weik was caught stealing at second base, right fielder Geraldo Valentin doubled and scored on an RBI double by shortstop Danny Gonzalez.

Ronnie Gaines (0-1) moved from centerfield to the mound for the top of the 14th. Gaines took the loss in his first pitching appearance of the season.

Abilene and San Angelo both scored in the 12th inning, and then Prairie Dogs' reliever Jeremy Tietze (3-3) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the victory.

The win improves Abilene to 29-41, while the loss drops San Angelo to 36-35. This series concludes Wednesday night at Foster Field.

It will be another Sherwin Wednesday, sponsored by Sherwin Williams. Either the Colts win or every fan in attendance gets a free ticket to the next Wednesday home game, courtesy of Sherwin Williams.

Wednesday is also the third and final Youth Clinic of the year, sponsored by Wal-Mart. Kids can receive free instruction from Colts' players and tickets to that night's game, courtesy of Wal-Mart. The Youth Clinic is at 4:45 p.m. at Foster Field.
