Colts Lose Fourth in a Row to Cats

August 11, 2013 - United League Baseball (ULB) - San Angelo Colts News Release

Fort Worth, Texas --- A five-run second inning propelled the Fort Worth Cats to a 6-2 win against the San Angelo Colts Sunday night at LaGrave Field.

The Cats benefitted from five walks and a hit by pitch that inning. Two of the walks, and the hit by pitch drove in runs. Designated hitter David Bergin capped it off with a two-run single that scored left fielder Cameron Monger and centerfielder Cody Bishop.

Monger reached base on the RBI hit by pitch, and Bishop drew a game-tying, RBI walk.

Colts' starter B.J. Hyatt (2-1) surrendered all five runs, and therefore took the loss. Hyatt gave up two hits and walked five batters in just 1 1/3 innings.

The Colts scored both of their runs in the first. Second baseman Jon Dziomba doubled and then came home on an RBI double by left fielder Joseph Hicks. Hicks scored on an RBI double by centerfielder Justin Reed.

Cats' pitching held the Colts scoreless from the second inning on, though. Starter Aaron Wilkerson (9-1) allowed two runs on five hits, and struck out a game-high six batters in five innings for the win.

Fort Worth's bullpen then tossed four shutout innings to ensure the victory.

The win improves Fort Worth to 48-28, while the loss drops San Angelo to 37-39. This series continues with a doubleheader Monday night. The Colts and Cats will play two seven-inning games, beginning at 6:05 p.m.
