
Roadrunners Edge White Wings

HARLINGEN, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners edged the Rio Grande Valley White Wings by a score of 3-0 on Sunday night at Harlingen Field and extended their winning streak to four games.
Edinburg (40-37) took an early lead when Trevor Whyte initiated the scoring for the Roadrunners when he hit a single that allowed Tim Maitland to score to make it 1-0. Derrick Pyles hit a sacrifice fly that scored Travis Clark to increase the lead at 2-0.
Roadrunners starter Curtis Camilli (7-5) earned the win and shutout the White Wings for six and two-thirds innings allowing two hits while striking out seven in the process.
The Roadrunners added an insurance run the seventh inning when Michael Haynes reached on a single. A series of errors allowed Haynes to reach third, the Maitland hit an RBI single that scored Haynes to make it 3-0 in favor of Edinburg.
The WhiteWings (34-43) were lead by Roberto Ramirez as he went 2-for -4 offensively, and Rolando Petit also had a single for Rio Grande Valley.
Brad Orsey (0-1) took the loss after allowing three earned runs in eight innings.
Alex Schmarzo earned the save tossing a scoreless inning allowing one hit which was his seventh save of the season.
The Roadrunners continue their four game series against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in Harlingen on Monday night at Harlingen Field with the first pitch set for 7:05 pm.
