
Roadrunners Force Game Five

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners defeated the Fort Worth Cats to force a game five in the United League Championship Series by a score of 9-3 on Sunday night at La Grave Field.
The series is tied at two games apiece and the championship winner will be decided on Monday night.
Edinburg (2-2) got on the board in the top of the first inning when Michael Haynes reached on a walk to start the game. Derrick Pyles hit a single that allowed Haynes to reach third. Tim Battle hit an RBI single to that scored Haynes to make it 1-0 in favor of the Roadrunners.
Fort Worth (2-2) tied the game at one in the bottom of the first when Daniel Meeley reached base on bases loaded RBI walk that allowed Cody Bishop to score.
The Roadrunners regained the lead in the top of the fifth inning when Haynes reached on a single and reached third on a Travis Clark single. Trevor Whyte would hit an RBI single that scored Haynes to make it 2-1 in favor of Edinburg.
Edinburg added to their lead in the sixth inning when Haynes hit a two run double that allowed Tim Maitland and Jordan Etier to score pushing the advantage to 4-1. Haynes finished the night going 2-for-4 scoring three runs and two RBI.
In the seventh inning the Roadrunners offense continued as Battle reached on a single then scored on a Cats error which made it 5-1.
Edinburg tacked on three runs in the eighth inning highlighted by a Pyles two run double and a Battle RBI groundout which made it 8-1. Pyles went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
The Roadrunners capped the scoring in the ninth as Dan Coury launched a solo homerun which was his first of the Championship Series making it 9-1.
The Cats scored two consolation runs in the bottom of the ninth when Logan Brumley hit a two run single allowing David Bergin and Chris Ellison to score to end the scoring at 9-3.
Cullen Babin (1-0) earned the win going five and one-third innings pitched allowing one earned run for the Roadrunners.
Osvaldo Rodriguez (0-1) took the loss tossing five and one-third innings as he permitted four earned runs on six hits for the Cats
The Roadrunners and Cats will a decisive game five in the United League Championship Series on Monday night with the first pitch at 7:05 pm at La Grave Field.
