FORT WORTH, Texas - Ozzie Canseco of the Edinburg Roadrunners was named Manager of the Year for the 2013 season.
In his first complete season as a manager, Canseco guided the Roadrunners to their second consecutive league championship with an overall record of 41-39 (.513).
The Roadrunners reached the championship round edging out the San Angelo Colts by a game and half in the standings. Then Edinburg needed all five games to defeat the Fort Worth Cats in the championship round to claim their second straight title.
Prior to managing Edinburg, Canseco was an interim manager at Yuma in 2011 before taking over a season long break in 2012. Canseco aside from managing and coaching third base for most of the season, he played in three games where he batted .200 and had one RBI that came against Rio Grande Valley.
Roadrunners ended with a total team batting average of .259 with 35 homeruns and 410 RBIs. The pitching staff rounded the season with a 4.08 earned run average.
