Colts Beat Cats, 4-2, Tuesday
Fort Worth, Texas --- The San Angelo Colts jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, and held on to defeat the Fort Worth Cats, 4-2, Tuesday night in game four of their five-game series at LaGrave Field.
San Angelo got on the board in the second inning when catcher Bubby Williams hit an RBI double that brought home third baseman Ryan Hutson. Hutson drew a two-out walk, and scored all the way from first.
The Colts took a 3-0 advantage in the fourth. Right fielder Cody Hudson hit an RBI single that scored left fielder Braden Embry from second. Embry drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Hudson scored from second when first baseman Steve Rinaudo hit a two-out RBI single.
Fort Worth scored a run apiece in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. Shortstop Logan Brumley had an RBI single in the fourth, and right fielder Chris Ellison did the same in the fifth.
Williams scored an insurance run for the Colts in the sixth inning. Shortstop Jordan Marks hit an RBI single that plated Williams.
Cats' starter Osvaldo Rodriguez (1-1) gave up all four runs on six hits in as many innings pitched for the loss.
Colts' reliever B.J. Hyatt (3-1) earned the win. He gave up two runs on three hits through three innings. Closer Cephas Howard pitched a perfect ninth inning for his league-best 11th save.
The win improves San Angelo to 39-40, while the loss drops Fort Worth is now 49-30. The final game of the 2013 regular season for both clubs is Wednesday night at LaGrave Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard live on 1260 KKSA beginning at 6:50 p.m.
