
Roadrunners Win Streak Halted

HARLINGEN, Texas - the Edinburg Roadrunners five game winning streak came to a halt as the Rio Grande Valley White Wings defeated them by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday night at Harlingen Field.
Hiroki Itakura got the scoring started with an RBI single in the bottom of the second scoring Michael Douglas from third giving the WhiteWings the 1-0 lead. Roberto Ramirez added a two-run double, which padded the White Wings lead to 3-0.
Rio Grande Valley (35-44) added to their lead in the bottom of the third on a Douglas RBI single, which plated Albert Carpen giving the Wings a 4-0 lead.
Edinburg (41-38) responded in the top of the fourth when Tim Battle reached on a single, then Carlton Salters hit an RBI double that scored Battle to cut the deficit to 4-1.
The WhiteWings added three runs in the bottom of the sixth, which capped off by a Rolando Petit two-run double to put the game out of reach at 7-1.
In the top of the seventh, Septimo hit his fourth homerun of the year to trim the White Wings lead to 6-2.
Kaz Smith hit an RBI double that scored Michael Haynes in the top of the ninth, which ended the scoring at 7-3 in favor of the White Wings.
Brian Smith (1-2) pitched a complete game for the victory allowing three runs and striking out ten hitters for the White Wings.
Antony Bello (3-8) took the loss after allowing four runs in five innings pitched for the Edinburg Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners will play the series finale against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in Harlingen on Wednesday night at Harlingen Field with the first pitch at 7:05 pm.
