COMSTOCK PARK - South Bend pounded out 14 hits and defeated the Whitecaps, 6-2. The Silver Hawks took three of four in the series. Fourteen hits is the most allowed by West Michigan this season.

Matt Oxendine put South Bend in front, 3-2 with a tworun single in the fourth inning. He doubled and scored in the seventh then added another RBI on a single in the eight to finish the game, 3-for-4. The Whitecaps led 2-0 thanks to an RBI double by Audy Ciriaco in the second inning followed by an RBI for Justin Henry in the third. Chris White scored when Henry reached base on an error by Silver Hawks second baseman Taylor Harbin.

White also doubled in the fifth inning when South Bend led, 3-2. That two-bagger followed a lead-off double by Jordan Newton. However, Newton did not advance to third until after he made sure that White's hit would drop. The next three batters in a row were retired by Silver Hawks starter Christian Beltre to end the inning and preserve the lead. Beltre went on to set down nine consecutive hitters before he left the game at the end of the seventh and eventually earned the victory to improve to 11-7. Manny Miguelez took the loss for the Whitecaps. Half of the four runs allowed by Miguelez in 6.1 innings were unearned thanks to one of three Whitecaps errors committed in the game.
