
Fallen Heroes Night at the Cove

SOUTH BEND, IN - The South Bend Silver Hawks return home to the Cove on Saturday, August 16 and will kick off the four game series against the West Michigan Whitecaps with Fallen Heroes Night. Fallen Heroes Night will honor local police, firefighters and EMS personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty. A police vehicle parade will take place on the field prior to the start of the game.
Midland Engineering will present the Corporal Paul Deguch Community Service Award in a pre-game ceremony. The Deguch Community Service Award is presented annually to a Silver Hawks player who demonstrates outstanding community service. The award is sponsored by Midland Engineering in honor of Corporal Paul Deguch, who was killed in the line of duty in August 1997.
In honor of Corporal Deguch, the Silver Hawks and Midland Engineering invite all local police, firefighters and EMS personnel to attend Saturday's game. Those who present their badge at the stadium box office will receive a free reserved seat ticket to the game.
A silent auction will be held for the Silver Hawks home jerseys with the proceeds benefiting The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. The winning bidders will receive their jerseys at the conclusion of the 2008 season. Each jersey will be autographed by the player.
The series continues with the Gurley Leep Silver Hawk for a Day on Sunday, August 17. Local resident, Steve Singleton, was the lucky contest winner and will be signed to a one-day contract with the Silver Hawks.
Monday, August 18 is Dollar Monday with $1 reserved seat tickets, hot dogs and soft drinks, sponsored by B100 and Pepsi. The series concludes with an appearance by The Famous San Diego Chicken on Tuesday, August 19.
