West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
Comstock Park, Mich. - Kyle Ginley turned in his best start of the year for the Lansing Lugnuts, but the bullpen was unable to hold the lead as the West Michigan Whitecaps squeezed out a 3-2 win Wednesday afternoon at Fifth Third Ballpark. The win extends the Whitecaps lead over the Lugnuts to 1 1/2 games.
Lansing held the lead through much of the game thanks to Brian Pettway's two-run homer to left field in the fourth the made it 2-0. Pettway's home run was his first in 31 games, ending the longest drought of his career.
The Whitecaps finally cracked the scoreboard in the sixth inning when Ryan Strieby's RBI single to right field plated Gorkys Hernandez to cut the lead to 2-1.
West Michigan gained the lead in the following frame by loading the bases off of reliever Julio Pinto. Hernandez then stepped up with two men out and single into left field. His hit scored two runs to give the Whitecaps the 3-2 advantage.

Pinto (1-3) took the loss for the Lugnuts, allowing the final two runs in his only inning of work.
