May 30, 2007 - Midwest League (MWL1)
West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK - Gorkys Hernandez delivered a two out, two run go-ahead single and Randor Bierd threw three perfect innings of relief to earn the win in a 3-2 Whitecaps victory over Lansing.
The Lugnuts moved ahead 2-0 on a two-run homer by Brian Pettway in the fourth inning of Jeff Gerbe, who made his second start of the season for the Whitecaps.
West Michigan rallied for a run in the sixth on a single by Ryan Strieby. The hit by Hernandez came in with the bases loaded in the seventh and plated Scott Sizemore and pinch-runner Brandon Timm.
Bierd pitched the sixth through eighth innings for the âCaps and Brett Jensen retired the Lugnuts in order in the ninth inning to earn his tenth save of the season.
Kyle Ginley remained winless for the Lugnuts despite his longest outing of the year: 6 innings pitched with four hits and one run allowed.
Julio Pinto pitched the seventh inning for Lansing and took the loss.
