Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (May 30, 2007) - The Kansas City Royals have promoted Burlington Bees RHP Jason Godin to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, the organization's high-A affiliate in the Carolina League. To fill Godin's spot on the active roster, RHP Ed Cegarra will join the Bees from extended spring training.

Godin was actually scheduled to be today's starting pitcher against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Community Field, but Josh Cribb will now pitch in his place and Godin is slated to pitch tomorrow for the Blue Rocks. Godin has been impressive since joining the Bees from extended spring training on April 23rd. In seven appearances (four starts), he is 1-1 with a 1.84 ERA and one save. He earned his first professional win and first pro save as a member of the Bees. In 29.1 innings, he allowed just six runs on 18 hits while walking 10 and striking out 20. He held opponents to a .175 batting average and right-handed batters hit just .103 against him. Godin is the third Bees' player and the second pitcher to get a promotion to Wilmington this season. He will join IF Marc Maddox and RHP Yovany D'Amico in the Carolina League. The Royals drafted Godin in the 5th Round of last year's draft out of Old Dominion University.

18-year-old RHP Ed Cegarra will join the Bees from extended spring training today. Cegarra made his professional debut in the Dominican Summer League last year and was 3-1 with a 1.39 ERA in 11 games (10 starts). In 45.1 innings, he allowed 27 hits and 6 walks while striking out 41. Cegarra is now the youngest player on the Bees' roster and will work out of the bullpen for the staff.

The Bees and Timber Rattlers square off at noon at Community Field today for Work Release Wednesday. The game will be broadcast live on The Ticket 1360 KBKB with the pre-game show starting at 11:40.
