Dayton Dragons News Release
Juan Francisco hit an opposite-field, three-run homer in the third and Chris Valaika had four hits to pace the Dayton Dragons to a 7-5 win.
Dayton scored all seven runs off Loons' starter Thomas Melgarejo (0-4), who picked up the loss.
The Dragons jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but Bridger Hunt tied the score with a solo homerun, his first of the season.
Francisco's blast gave the Dragons a 5-1 lead. Dayton added two more runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Valaika.
The Loons (22-28) responded with solo homeruns by Eduardo Perez and Matt Berezay off Dayton starter Rafael Gonzalez. Gonzalez recorded his eighth win of the season to move into the league lead in that category. He also moved into first place in the league in homeruns surrendered (10).
Great Lakes tacked on two more in the eighth before falling by two.
Josh Bell went 0-for-3 to snap a 15-game hitting streak, the longest in franchise history. James Peterson also ended a 10-game streak.
This series continues Thursday night at 7:05 at Dow Diamond. It's Game Show Night at the ballpark. Tickets are available by calling 989-837-BALL, by visiting the Dow Diamond ticket office, or by logging on to Loons.com.
