"What Could'Ve Been'" Night at Parkview Field Friday
July 10, 2015 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Through 6 1/2 years of existence, the Fort Wayne TinCaps have become one of the most successful organizations in Minor League Baseball. The team's name and apple logo are internationally admired. But...
What if the TinCaps weren't the TinCaps? What if the TinCaps were the Octane? Fans will find out Friday on "What Could've Been?" Night at Parkview Field when the Octane host the Great Lakes Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers) at 7:05.
Fort Wayne will be wearing Octane jerseys and hats. The team store will sell Octane merchandise. The video board and in-game promotions will be Octane-themed. The Octane will have their own mascot. Even the Bad Apple Dancers are being replaced for the night. (See logo attached.)
Why Octane on "What Could've Been?" Night?
Back in 2008, when the Fort Wayne Wizards announced they'd be changing their name as they moved into Parkview Field the following year, the organization asked fans to help name the new team. More than 2,500 suggestions were submitted.
TinCaps, of course, won as a nod to Fort Wayne's connection to Johnny Appleseed, while Octane finished as the runner-up. Like TinCaps, Octane pays tribute to Summit City history. Sylvanus Bowser invented the gas pump here in 1885. To this day, Fort Wayne maintains strong ties to the automotive industry.
Jersey Giveaway
All fans in attendance Friday night will be eligible to win a game-worn Octane jersey through a scratch-off contest.
Friday night also will feature postgame fireworks presented by Auto Care on the GO! Tickets to "What Could've Been Night" remain available by calling 260-482-6400, by visiting the Parkview Field Ticket Office, or at TinCapsTickets.com.
