Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
CHARLESTON, WV - West Virginia wraps up its July home schedule with a three-game weekend set against the Asheville Tourists from Friday, July 27, through Sunday, July 29. This series marks the final time West Virginia takes on Asheville this season. The Power are 3-1 against the Tourists in 2018.
SCHEDULE:
Friday, July 27: Power vs. Asheville Tourists: 7:05 p.m.
Saturday, July 28: Power vs. Asheville Tourists: 6:05 p.m.
Sunday, July 29: Power vs. Asheville Tourists: 2:05 p.m.
ABOUT THE TOURISTS: The Tourists are 15-15 in the second half and sit two games behind the Greenville Drive in the second half Southern Division standings. Asheville's offense paces the South Atlantic League with 117 homers, while its .262 batting average is tied with Kannapolis' for the league's best clip. They also rank second in the league in runs at 484. Offensively, they are led by Casey Golden and Chad Spanberger, who was just dealt to the Toronto Blue Jays. Golden has smashed 24 homers, which is good for second most in the SAL, and has hit to the tune of a .277 clip. Meanwhile, Spanberger ranks both third in the league in average and homers with .315 and 22, respectively. While the Tourist's hitting has been incredible, their pitching is ranked near the bottom of the league, accented by a league-worst 4.90 ERA.
