Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

The West Virginia Power beat the Kannapolis Intimidators 3-2 on Saturday evening at Appalachian Power Park. Rogelio Noris hit a home run in his third straight game to key the Power offense in their second straight win overall and fourth in a row against the Intimidators.

Noris lead of the second inning with his fourth home run of the season. Noris also hit home runs in Thursday's loss to Greensboro and in yesterday's win over Kannapolis. Two outs later, Jose Hernandez hit his first of three doubles and scored on a triple by Wes Freeman to give the Power a 2-0 advantage.

The Intimidators tied the score in the fifth inning when Ian Gac doubled to left-center field, driving in Daniel Wagner and Kyle Colligan.

In the sixth, West Virginia regained the lead for good. Ramon Cabrera lead off the inning with a single advanced to second on a passed ball, and moved to third on an error by Intimidators centerfielder Trayce Thompson. With one out and runners on the corners, Wes Freeman brought in Cabrera with a sacrifice fly for a 3-2 Power edge.

Jason Erickson (1-2) earned the win in relief of Gabriel Alvarado, and Zach Foster pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save. Cameron Bayne (2-4) took the loss for Kannapolis. Hernandez had the lone multi-hit game for the West Virginia and became the first player on the team to reach on three doubles in a single game this season. Gac finished with three hits for the Intimidators, while Wagner had a pair of hits and a pair of stolen bases. Colligan was held hitless over four at bats and saw hits 14 game hitting streak snapped.

The Power and Intimidators will meet for game three of this series on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 and will see West Virginia's Melkin Laureano face Kannapolis' Matt Wickswat.
