Braves Roughed Up By Tourists

Rome, GA - The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves 9-1 Saturday night before a sold out crowd of 5,105 for their second straight win over the Braves. Rome's record now stands at 11-19.

The Tourists scored first in the second inning as they had four straight singles to take a 2-0 lead. Asheville scored twice more in the third to extend their lead to 4-0 as Orlando Sandoval had a two RBI double to right to plate Jared Clark and Angelys Nina.

Rome got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a Robert Hefflinger single to center to score Jordan Schafer for the 4-1 score.

The Tourists held off the Braves while adding two runs in the fifth and three more in the eighth for the 9-1 final.

Nick Schnaitmann (3-3) earns the win for Asheville while David Hale (0-4) picks up the loss for Rome.
