Weissbach's Two-Goal Effort Not Enough in 7-4 Loss

Waterloo, Ia. - Despite a pair of tallies from Linus Weissbach, the Waterloo Black Hawks scored four goals in the second period to burst past the Tri-City Storm, 7-4, Friday at Young Arena.

Weissbach's second goal of the game early in the second gave the Storm a 3-2 lead. The first-year forward leads the Storm with 35 points and is tied with Alex Limoges for a team-best 13 goals. Charlie Kelleher and Joseph Campolieto each had two assists.

Reigning CCM/USHL Defenseman of the Week Jack Ryczek had four points (1g, 3a) for Waterloo, including a pair of assists in the second.

Adam Goodsir scored his 12th of the season on the power play. For the tenth time this season, the Storm recorded a pair of power play goals (2-for-5). Logan Drevitch also scored his third Storm goal.

Dayton Rasmussen took the loss with 26 saves and was pulled after the second. Eric Dop made 10 saves on 11 shots in relief. Robbie Beydoun won and allowed four goals on 26 shots.

Weissbach's strong game started early; he scored 33 seconds into the first, the quickest Tri-City has tallied to open a game. Weissbach allowed Beydoun to make the first move and slid it in at the right bar. Limoges took the helper.

Tri-City allowed the next two goals at even strength. On its first power play, the Storm struck to tie the score, 2-2, with 4:36 left in the opening frame. Goodsir taking a feed from Kelleher and delivered it in at the right post. Campolieto earned the second assist.

Once again, Weissbach provided a spark early in a period to give the Storm a 3-2 edge. The 18-year-old went end-to-end on the power play, scoring the Storm's second of the night with a rocket wrist shot from the left circle. Weissbach beat Beydoun to the top shelf.

Waterloo rattled off four straight goals in the last 11 minutes of the second period to take a 6-3 lead into the third.

The Hawks scored against Dop at 2:04 of the third and made the score, 7-4. The Storm's Drevitch scored with 11:45 left in the third to pull Tri-City within three.

Tri-City finishes with weekend with a rematch against the Black Hawks on Saturday, February 4 at 7:05 p.m.
