Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, NE - Three straight goals to open the game were what the Stars needed as Lincoln answered back a night after the Lancers topped the Stars, taking a 4-2 victory Tuesday night.

Emilio Pettersen recorded one goal and added an assist for the second multipoint game of his career. Two points gives Pettersen six points (3g, 3a) in his last five games, and points in three straight. For a third straight night the Lancers played in front of a sold out Ralston Arena.

Unlike Friday night the first period was used for scoring on Saturday. Lincoln opened the scoring when Alex Green's blast from the point beat Tommy Nappier with exactly 4:00 left in the period to give Lincoln the 1-0 lead.

With the Lancers on the power play in the second Papillion native Ethen Frank doubled the lead for the Stars. On a break-away from the red line Frank out waited Nappier and tucked it past the outstretched pad to push the Lincoln lead to 2-0.

Dominic Mersch extended the lead before the Lancers drew it closer in the third period. Walking in on the left wing Mersch sent a laser above Nappier's glove had to push the lead to 3-0. Omaha would break through the wall of Josef Korenar just over three minutes later. On the power play Cole Gallant looked cross-ice and found Ben Lown on the back door. Lown one-timed the puck past Korenar for his fourth goal of the season. The goal also snapped an 0-for-18 streak on the man-advantage for Omaha.

Striving to bring the game within a goal the Lancers pulled the goalie, but Mike Gillespie sent a spin-around shot from the red line that found the back of the net, giving Lincoln a 4-1 lead. Emilio Pettersen scored twenty seconds later to cut the lead back to two goals, but it was too little too late as the Stars skated out with a 4-2 victory. With the loss Omaha falls to 15-20-4-1.

Omaha is back in action Tuesday night as they host the Sioux City Musketeers in the third of three straight Tuesday night games.
