BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the recall of Right Wing Mattias Weinhandl by the Islanders. The Sound Tigers have also announced Defenseman Radek Martinek has been sent to the team by the Islanders on a conditioning assignment.

Weinhandl has posted five goals, nine assists, 14 points and eight penalty minutes in 14 games with the Sound Tigers, as well as one assist in two games with the Islanders this season. His nine assists tie him with Trent Hunter for the Sound Tigers' team lead in that category.

Martinek was the Islanders' 12th pick, 228th overall, in the 1999 NHL draft. The 6'1'' 203-pound native of Havlicko Brod, Czech Republic has one assist and four penalty minutes in 12 games with the Islanders this season. Martinek played the previous four seasons, 1996-2000, with Ceske Budejovice in the Czech Republic.

The Sound Tigers will visit the Syracuse Crunch this Friday at 7:30 p.m. and will host the Philadelphia Phantoms this Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
