
Albany heads to Thanksgiving with four games in five nights

The Albany River Rats complete the second half of a four-game road trip beginning Wednesday night against the Cleveland Barons at 7:00PM. The Barons (5-9-1-0, 5TH Central) will be hosting the River Rats at Gund Arena for the second and final match up between the two teams during the 2002-2003 season. The River Rats outscored the Barons 5-2 on October 25th in the only other match up of the season. Barons C Ryan Kraft posted three assists in Friday night's win over the Rochester Americans while RW Niko Dimitrakos, who currently leads the team with 15 points (6-9), notched a goal and an assist earning them #1 and #2 star of the game honors, respectively.
Albany makes a second stop in Rochester for a 7:35PM face-off against the Americans Friday night at Blue Cross Arena. The River Rats currently lead the Americans (4-8-4-2, 3RD Central) in the all time regular season series 31-30-8-4 yet trail the all time series away from Pepsi Arena 13-20-1-1. RW Norm Milley leads the team with 16 points (5-11), of which five were earned over the weekend (1-4-3). The teams will face off two more times this season (Nov. 30th @ ALB & Mar. 9th @ ROC).
The River Rats host the Syracuse Crunch (6-6-1-0, 4TH Central) in the first of six match-ups during the 2002-03 season series (Dec. 7th & 20th @SYR, Jan. 25th @ SYR, Feb. 26th @ ALB, & Mar. 12th @ ALB) in a 7:00PM contest at Pepsi Arena. The River Rats lead the all time series against the Crunch (29-26-8-5) and hold an 18-12-2-2 record on home ice. RW David Ling heads the minor league affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets with 17 points (2-15-13) and currently stands tied for 2nd in the league with 15 assists, while G Karl Goehring (3-1-0) tops league netminders with a 1.14 goals against average and a 0.96 save percentage.
The pre-Holiday schedule concludes on Sunday afternoon at 4:05PM with the first of two meetings (Jan. 18th @ ALB) against the Providence Bruins. The Bruins (8-5-4-1, 1ST North) hold an 8-8-3-0 record against Albany at the Dunkin Donuts Center, and trail the all time series 13-19-6-0. RW Martin Samuelsson currently leads league rookies with four power play goals, and C Andy Hilbert (9-7-18) stands 2nd in the league with 72 shots on goal.

Jiri Bicek's 210th point came in the form of an assist during Saturday's game against Hamilton and leaves him only 2 points away from tying Scott Pellerin and Bryan Helmer for #2 on the All Time River Rats Points Leaders list. Raymond Giroux continues to lead AHL defensemen scorers with 16 points and is tied for first in the league with 12 assists. Scott Clemmensen stands eighth among league goaltenders with a 2.25 goals against average. Over the Air:
