Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
Winnipeg scored three shorthanded goal Saturday at Wayne Fleming Arena and went on to hand the Moose Jaw Warriors a 7-1 loss.
Like Friday, the teams were able to establish a quick pace to begin the game.
Four minutes into the contest, Owen Pederson made a pass from the Moose Jaw left circle to the top of the Warriors' crease where Michal Teply jammed in the game's first goal.
Late in the period, the Warriors had a four-minute power-play after Eric Alarie was cut with a high-stick.ÃÂ Unfortunately, it was the ICE that got all the rewards as they picked up shorthanded goals from Peyton Krebs and Owen Pederson 38 seconds apart to give Winnipeg a 3-0 lead.
Just over six minutes into the second period and with Winnipeg on the power-play, the ICE worked the puck around the Moose Jaw zone and set up Michal Teply in the left circle where he scored to increase their lead.
Moose Jaw was able to respond at 9:53 when Eric Alarie led an odd-man rush across the Winnipeg blue line and put a shot over the pad and under the glove of goalie Gage Alexander for his seventh of the season.
Inside the final minute of the period, the Warriors went back on the power-play but unfortunately, the ICE got another shorthanded goal from Owen Pederson to make it 5-1.
In the third period, the ICE got a deflection goal from Nino Kinder and a late goal from Isaac Johnson to end the game.
Coming up next for the Warriors, a Tuesday date with the Saskatoon Blades at Mosaic Place.ÃÂ Tickets are available at the Mosaic Place Box Office or online atÃÂ www.mjwarriors.ca.
