Washington Assigns Pokulok to the Stingrays

N. CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the Washington Capitals of the NHL have reassigned defenseman Sasha Pokulok from the Hershey Bears to South Carolina.

Pokulok, 20, was a first round draft pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and was selected 14th overall. A native of Vaud-Dorion, Quebec, Pokulok is his first year of professional hockey. He played two years of college hockey at Cornell University where he had a total of 23 points (7g-16a) and 82 penalty minutes in 53 games. Pokulok, at 6'5" and 230-lbs, has played in only one game with the Hershey Bears this season due to injury. He is expected to be in the line-up tonight when the Stingrays play the Charlotte Checkers in Charlotte.

The Stingrays are in Charlotte tonight as fifth place in the South Division is on the line.
