February 8, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Alexandre Bolduc returned from Manitoba and assisted on three goals, including Tyler Scott's game-winner with just 1:15 left in the third, and the Bakersfield Condors squeaked past the Toledo Storm, 4-3, Wednesday night, in front of 3,974 at Rabobank Arena.
Toledo (23-20-1, 47 points) jumped in front at 13:26 of the first, when rookie Evan McGrath continued his scoring binge. On the power-play, he lifted one past Jamie Hodson for his sixth goal in nine games, with an assist on the play to the Storm's leading scored, Matt Zultek.
The Condors (27-12-5, 59 points) replied with Sean Venedam's goal at 16:08, off a terrific feed by Alexandre Bolduc, just down from the Manitoba Moose. Bolduc circled the Storm net, faked a wrap-around shot with the backhand, spun to his forehand, and sent a perfect pass to the far side of the cage, where Venedam was waiting to tap it in for his 19th of the season.
The Storm regained the lead when the Condors misplayed the puck behind their own net, and Bruce Mulherin stuffed it in the vacated net for a 2-1 lead at 11:51 of the second period.
Late in the second, the Condors had a great opportunity with a five-on-three advantage and cashed in. Rane Carnegie kept the puck in the zone with a good play along the boards, and then was rewarded when he slammed home a rebound of Todd Griffith's shot for his eighth of the year to tie it at 2-2.
Bakersfield took their first lead of the night early in the third, as Andrew Ianiero finished off a three- on-two rush with his 10th of the season. Venedam slid it between his legs to Bolduc, who waited until Ianiero charged down the slot to put the puck on his stick.
Toledo tied it up on a power-play with just 4:07 remaining, as McGrath and Zultek combined to set up Chris Blight for a tip-in to tie it at 3-3.
But Bakersfield got a power-play of their own late, and Scott's blast eluded Ervins Mustukovs for the game-winner.
