Former Lynx Parenteau makes NHL debut

Augusta, GA - Former Augusta Lynx forward Pierre Parenteau made his National Hockey League debut with the Chicago Blackhawks as they downed the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 on Wednesday night.

The 319th former ECHL player to skate in the NHL, Parenteau saw 10:55 of ice time, recording one shot on goal and one blocked shot in the contest. He also finished with an even rating in the contest.

After sustaining a training camp injury while with the Anaheim Ducks in 2005, Parenteau was sent to Augusta for a pair of games December 6 and 7, 2005. He recorded an assist and an even rating along with 14 shots on goal in those two contests.

Selected in the ninth round (264th overall) by Anaheim in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Parenteau was acquired along with Bruno St. Jacques by Chicago from Anaheim on Dec. 28, 2006 in exchange for Matt Keith, Sebastien Caron and Chris Durno. Parenteau has 15 points (4g-11a) in 16 games with Norfolk of the AHL after opening the season with Portland where he had 28 points (15g-13a) and 35 penalty minutes in 28 games.

The Lynx return to action on Friday, February 9 at 7:35 pm when they host the Trenton Titans at the James Brown Arena. Saturday night marks the kick off of a home and home series with the Gwinnett Gladiators in Augusta at 7:35 pm, followed by a 4 pm matinee at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Sunday.
