Warriors to Induct Brouwer, Engelland to Hall of Fame

Moose Jaw, SK - The Moose Jaw Warriors, in partnership with Conexus Credit Union, are excited to announce that Troy Brouwer and Deryk Engelland will be inducted into the Conexus Warriors and Legends Hall of Fame on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 in a ceremony at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

From Delta, BC, Troy Brouwer played for the Warriors from 2001-2006. In 287 regular season games, Brouwer finished with 103 goals, 116 assists, 219 points, and 426 penalty minutes. He played in 45 playoff games, which ranks as the second-most in franchise history, and had 15 goals and 23 points. In 2005, he was named Captain and went on to capture the WHL scoring title (Bobby Clarke Trophy) with 49 goals, 53 assists, and 102 points. That season he was also named to the WHL Eastern Conference First All-Star Team and the CHL Second All-Star Team.

Brouwer was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round, 214th overall, at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, and would go on to play 14 seasons in the National Hockey League with Chicago, Washington, St. Louis, Calgary, and Florida. In 851 NHL regular season games, he had 182 goals, 181 assists, and 363 points. He played for Canada at the 2014 World Championship and was a member of the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup Champion team in 2010.

Brouwer and his family reside in Calgary where he is a NHL pro scout for the St. Louis Blues.

From Chetwynd, BC, Engelland played with the Warriors from 1999-2003. In 243 regular season games patrolling the blue-line, he finished with 14 goals, 34 assists, and 48 points, and his 520 penalty minutes ranks eighth in franchise history.

Engelland was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round, 194th overall, in 2000, and he would go on to play 11 seasons in the NHL with Pittsburgh, Calgary, and Vegas. In 671 regular season games, he had 30 goals, 97 assists, 127 points, and 579 penalty minutes. He also played six seasons in the American Hockey League from 2003 - 2010 and was a Calder Cup Champion with the Hershey Bears in 2006.

Engelland was an original member of the Vegas Golden Knights and served as an Assistant Captain during his three seasons in Vegas. He was nominated by the Golden Knights for the 2018 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, as a player who best exemplifies leadership qualities and gives back to his community. In 2018, he was the recipient of the NHL's Mark Messier Leadership Award.

Engelland and his family reside in Las Vegas where he is involved with the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation as a Special Assistant to Owner Bill Foley.

Brouwer and Engelland will be inducted into the Conexus Warriors and Legends Hall of Fame on Friday, Jan. 12 and then will be honoured before the Warriors game on Saturday, Jan. 13 against the Vancouver Giants.
