Oil Kings to Host Thanksgiving Day Matinee Game in Support of Edmonton's Food Bank

(Edmonton, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings will host their first ever Thanksgiving Day Matinee game against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Monday, October 9 at 12:00 P.M. where they will be collecting donations for Edmonton's Food Bank.

In partnership with Voila, an online grocery delivery service available in the Edmonton and Calgary area, the Oil Kings will have 3,000 boxes of Compliments Macaroni and Cheese for sale on the concourse for $5 with 100% of the proceeds supporting Edmonton's Food Bank.

Fans can use the boxes during the game as noisemakers and as they leave at the conclusion of the game, can drop them in one of the collection boxes on the concourse to donate them to Edmonton's Food Bank. Fans are also encouraged to bring their own boxes of Mac and Cheese from home to donate.

Edmonton's Food Bank helps more than 30,000 people a month, with 40% of them being children and are in dire need of the community's support.

"Gathering the family together and having fun at an Oil Kings game is something that we as a brand take great pride in delivering," said Oil Kings Director of Business Operations, Kevin Radomski. "Being able to cheer on your Edmonton Oil Kings while supporting Edmonton's Food Bank makes this game extra special.

"It's important for us to support those members of our community that need help right now and a bowl of macaroni and cheese is the perfect meal, anytime of the day! We can't wait to hear the sound of thousands of boxes of macaroni and cheese being shaken in unison, knowing that all of those boxes are going to a great cause after the game is done."

Giving back to the greater Edmonton community is a mandate of the Oil Kings and to be able to help support an important organization like Edmonton's Food Bank is something the organization feels is extremely critical.

The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is Friday, October 7 at 7:00 P.M. when they take on the Prince Albert Raiders at Rogers Place.
