Tri-City Americans News Release
GAME DAY PREVIEW
Hanford Vit Plant Home Opener
Americans vs Silvertips
Saturday, October 7 | Kennewick, WA | Toyota Center
Start Time: 6:05 p.m. PDT
Tri-City will open the home portion of their 2023-24 schedule tonight at the Toyota Center.
It will be the first meeting between the Ams and Silvertips this season. Tri-City led their head-to-head series with Everett 5-3-1-0 last season. The Americans have won their last five Home Openers, including a 7-1 victory last season against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
The Americans last played a week ago in Spokane. They scored three in the third period to come from behind and defeat the Chiefs 3-1, earning their second straight win.
After trailing by 1 for most of the game, the Ams offense was finally able to break through five minutes into the third period. Andrew Fan tapped home a pass from Max Curran to put the Americans on the board and tie the game at 1-1.
Five minutes later, Deagan McMillan recovered a lose puck in the high slot area and scored with a quick wrist shot past Dawson Cowan to give the Ams a 2-1 lead. McMillan scored again with two minutes remaining in the game as he cleaned up a rebound off a shot from Lukas Dragicevic. It was McMillan's third multi-goal WHL game.
Lukas Matecha made his WHL debut in net for the Americans after returning from pro camp with the Detroit Red Wings. He made an outstanding first impression, turning aside 38 of 39 shots faced from Spokane.
The Americans will look for their third straight victory tonight against the Silvertips.
