Warriors Come Back In Overtime Win Over Tigers

Moose Jaw, SK - A tightly matched Saturday night tilt between the Medicine Hat Tigers & Moose Jaw Warriors ended in overtime with the home side claiming the extra point at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
The Warriors would come back two different instances against the Tigers to force the extra frame.
Medicine Hat dictated 5 on 5 play the majority of the night and that lead to a 1st period lead of 1-0 thanks to Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) hitting the one-time pass from Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) for his 17th of the season, Pasha Bocharov (Escondido, CA) would add a secondary assist at 14:09 to give the visiting Tigers the lead, also outshooting the Warriors 13-8.
In the second period both goaltenders Connor Ungar and Beckett Langkow (Vegreville, AB) were standing tall in the opposing nets and just one puck would pass, as Atley Calvert would hit his 28th of the season past Langkow with 5:06 left in the middle frame to notch things even at 1-1 through 40 minutes of play.
Cue the third period where again both goaltenders would make big saves early in the final 20 and it would take an Owen MacNeil (Calgary, AB) just getting past the glove of Ungar to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead at 7:29, for the captain it would be his 7th of the campaign with Brayden Boehm (Nanaimo, BC) with the lone assist. But the Warriors wouldn't go away as Martin Rysavy would beat Langkow on a partial break-away to tie the game at 2-2 with 4:15 left in regulation and be credited with the game tying goal heading to overtime.
But in overtime on the first play of extra time the Warriors would draw a penalty and would go to the power play and Jagger Firkus would make no mistake beating Langkow and giving Moose Jaw the extra point for the 3-2 win.
Despite outshooting the Warriors 36-32, the Tigers special teams hit a busy Warrior penalty kill as the Tigers went 0/6, while Moose Jaw was 2/3.
With the loss the Tigers move to 18-21-7-1 on the 2022-23 campaign, despite the loss the Tigers with the single point are just two points back of the Regina Pats for 8th in the Eastern Conference standings with their next match-up against those very same Pats Sunday afternoon.
