
Walleye Sweep Wings with 2-1 Win

(Kalamazoo, MI) Kyle Bonis picked up a goal and Jake Paterson turned aside 28 shots in a 2-1 Walleye win Saturday night at Kalamazoo. Toledo swept Kalamazoo in two preseason contests.
Toledo took a 1-0 lead at 11:14 of the first period when Kyle Bonis picked up a power play goal. Defenseman Kyle Bushee picked up the lone assist.
Michael Leone found the back of the net at 12:20 of the second period for a 2-0 Walleye lead. Kalamazoo cut the lead to one with a power play goal with just 51 seconds left in the second period.
The Wings outshot Toledo 15-7 in the third period but the Walleye held them off of the scoreboard.
Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jake Paterson finished with 28 saves on the 29 shots he faced. Kalamazoo outshot Toledo 29-22 in the contest and both teams finished 1-4 on the power play.
