Eagles Blank Rush 3-0 in Preseason Opener
October 10, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles opened up preseason action at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday with a 3-0 win over the Rapid City Rush. A pair of third period goals and a big night from Jordan Kwas lifted the Eagles over the Rush.
The Eagles outshot the rush 13-7 in the first period, but despite the offense onslaught they had to wait for a goal. In his Eagles debut, Defenseman Giffen Nyren broke the drought to score with just over a minute to play on a 5-on-3 powerplay. Kwas and Nathan Moon picked up assists on the play.
Colorado carried a 1-0 lead through the second period. With just 1:10 ticked off of the clock in the third, Jake Marto found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Kwas picked up his second assist of the night with a well-placed pass to set up Marto.
The Eagles took a 3-0 as Nathan Moon pulled the puck from behind the net and placed it behind goaltender Danny Battochio. Tyler Bunz and Jacob DeSerres combined on the shutout in net for the Eagles. Colorado would outshoot Rapid City by a final count of 36-19. The two teams will meet in their preseason finale Saturday night in Rapid City.
Season tickets for the 2015-16 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $50 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
