October 10, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (10/10/15) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Saturday that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with goaltender Eric Hartzell.
Hartzell, 26, is readying for his third professional season. He spent most of the past two seasons with the Wheeling Nailers, where he's compiled a 25-19-2 record in 46 ECHL games. Hartzell has also played 27 games for AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 12-8-1.
Hartzell guarded the net for Quinnipiac University for four seasons between 2009 and 2013, going 58-27-17 over that time with a 1.96 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. Hartzell starred in goal for the Bobcats and helped lead the program to its first ever appearance in the National Championship game in 2013.
That year, his senior season, Hartzell was recognized as the 2013 ECAC Player of the Year, the ECAC Hockey Ken Dryden Goaltender of the Year, the USCHO Player of the Year, a Hobey Baker Award finalist, and an ECAC First-Team All-Star. He holds Quinnipiac's career record for goals-against average and save percentage.
Hartzell joins the Steelheads after participating in training camp with AHL Stockton. He becomes the third goaltender on Idaho's training camp roster, joining Philippe Desrosiers and Chris Rawlings. He will dress Saturday night in the Steelheads' exhibition matchup with the Utah Grizzlies.
Tickets are still available for the Steelheads' regular season opener on October 16th against the Rapid City Rush at CenturyLink Arena.
Season tickets are also now on sale with full-season packages starting as low as $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages are also available. Contact the Idaho Steelheads at 208-383-0080 for more information or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com.
