
Thunder Blow Past Americans in Lone Exhibition Contest, 7-2

Wichita, KS (Oct. 10th) - Wichita scored four goals in the first period en route to a 7-2 victory on Saturday night over the Allen Americans at the Wichita Ice Center. In the team's lone exhibition appearance, nine players found the score sheet including Anthony Deluca, who led the way with two goals and an assist.
Mason Baptista and Cullen Bradshaw helped the Thunder jump out to a 2-0 lead in the first nine minutes of the contest. The Americans got one through on the power play from David Makowski at 14:35 that made it 2-1. Joey Sides and Tim Boyle recorded goals near the end of the frame and sent Wichita into the locker room with a 4-1 advantage.
Each team found the back of the net in the second. Andy Huff scored at 5:13 with an assist from Bradshaw. At 15:08, Garrett Clarke tallied the Americans second of the night to make it 5-2.
In the third, Deluca scored back-to-back goals in the final nine minutes. His first came at 10:01 and his second at 19:32.
Deluca led the way with three points (2g, 1a). Baptista, Bradshaw and Boyle each finished with a goal and an assist. Kenton Miller finished with a pair of assists while Boyle led the way in the plus/minus category (+5). The Thunder take the first-ever preseason match-up between the two franchises.
Both goalies for the Thunder saw action as David Shantz (SHAWN-tz) stopped 14 of 15 shots he faced in almost 30 minutes of work. Grant Rollheisier pushed away 20 of 21 shots he saw in 30 minutes of action. For Allen, Joel Rumpel stopped 8 of the 13 shots he faced. Dayn Belfour, the son of former NHLer Eddie Belfour, stopped 18 of 20 shots on net.
